Key Indicator Method - Manual Handling Operations (KIM-MHO)

Developed by: Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsschutz und Arbeitsmedizin [Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health]

Description: A ten-page pdf used to compute a numerical risk score for a task. It assigns points to the task duration, forces, postures, working environment, work organization, and upper limb demands; these points are totalled which place the task into one of four categories. The first two pages of the pdf are the assessment itself with the remaining eight pages providing instruction and guidelines on how to conduct the assessment. Outcomes are not specific to a joint or specific MSD, but rather intended to give an overall impression of a task.

Keywords: assessment, posture, force, environment, organization, general, hand, arm, multiplier, risk
