Lifting Fatigue Failure Tool (LiFFT)

Developed by: Auburn University

Description: A tool that predicts whether a job that involves lifting is at risk for developing a low back musculoskeletal disorder. Users divide a job into tasks, and input information about each task: weight lifted, lever arm, and number of repetitions. The tool will estimate the cumulative potential damage each task contributes, and presents a likelihood of whether that job would be considered “high risk” for the low back or not. There are a few useful links about the tool, including more detailed instructions, access to the original supporting research, and other similar tools (LiFFT and The Shoulder Tool) by these developers.
