Description: A document about safe lifting practices with tips to reduce the risk of back injuries in jobs with lifting tasks. The first half of this resource includes general information about back disorders and lifting, lists of lifting-related musculoskeletal hazards, ways to reduce those hazards, and lists of stretches intended to help with preparing workers for lifting tasks they face. The second half of this resource covers information about how to present this information to and engage with workers.

This is one of five “Safety Talk” resources intended to help practitioners and trainers communicate with workers about ergonomics and musculoskeletal disorders in the workplace.
